I work closely with my clients at every stage of the garden design process to ensure the final garden design meets their requirements. All my garden designs are bespoke, and will transform your garden into a unique outside space that will be a delight for years to come.

The design process is in 5 stages.

The Design Process

Initial consultation

During the first meeting with a client on site ensures I will discuss their requirements and explore their vision for the garden, the likely uses of the garden, their likes and dislikes, and preferred styles.

I will take time to fully understand the space, and how it will connect with the property, sit within its surroundings and work most effectively for the client.

We will also discuss desired timescales and budget.

Site survey and analysis

Full topographical survey (where necessary) of the existing site will be carried out by a professional garden surveyor. I also conduct surveys for smaller projects.

The site analysis involves take into consideration the age and style of the property, soil type, orientation of the garden and weather conditions. I use this to develop a design brief on which forms the basis of the new garden design.

The Design

Once the design brief has been agreed I will produce a concept plan which will give an idea of the overall design of the garden. I discuss this with the client to ensure they are happy with the design before going on to produce the layout plan.

The layout plan gives a comprehensive scale representation of the client’s new garden or border.

When the layout has been finalised, I produce a planting plan showing the plant varieties, numbers, spacing and placement.

In addition, mood boards will familiarise the client with key plant varieties, colours, textures and materials that will be included in the design. I may also produce an elevation and perspective drawing depending on the design.

Once the planting plan has been approved I send the plant list of a nurseries to check on availability and prices before giving a full quotation.
