Things to do in the garden during lockdown, day 15: Start sowing outside

There is a still a risk of frost but hardy plants like beet can be sown outside from March. Space the rows 30cm apart and water your trench first, sow the seeds about 3cm deep, about 15cm apart and water again afterwards.

I am sowing Rainbow Beet as it gives me a good selection of cultivars. It the weather stays warm they could be up in a couple of weeks and I will be harvesting the luscious colourful roots in around 12. I've only sown one row, and will succession sow again at two week intervals so my crop will stretch for as long as possible.
