Things to do in the garden during lockdown day 64: tie up the plants that like to lean.

Tall perennials will have a habit of leaning towards the light. Many like campanula don't need staking, they just look better if they are.

Some perennials take me by surprise each year and I don't get around to supporting them until they are in full bloom, even when I leave the stakes in as markers. Campanula persicifolia is one of those. Even though it does fine in dappled shade it will still lean heavily towards the light. It's flexible stems take kindly to be staked late and it is lovely to see the bell-shaped flowers face on. The bees love them too.
