Things to do in the garden during lockdown day 74: dead head to encourage more flowers

Dash out and deadhead between the showers.

Finally the rain is here and we are back to a good old English summer. I popped out this morning briefly to deadhead my lupins as the first flush of flowers is over, with only one bloom remaining. Deadheading encourages the plant to produce more flowers. Leaving them to die back in situ means the plant will put all its effort into making new seeds and not bother with more blooms. Those that I deadheaded about ten days ago are well on the way with round two.
